Box Parklets was founded in early 2020 as a rapid response effort by Hawkers Modular to increase the amount of open street spaces, and parklets available to people and small businesses in communities during the height of the covid pandemic.
What is a Parklet?
“Parklets are public seating platforms that convert curbside parking spaces into vibrant community spaces. Also known as street seats or curbside seating, parklets are the product of a partnership between the city and local businesses, residents, or neighbourhood associations.
Most parklets have a distinctive design that incorporates seating, greenery, and/or bike racks and accommodate unmet demand for public space on thriving neighborhood retail streets or commercial areas.”

To us at Box Parklets we see them as more than that. We see them as a highly customizable product we can offer to clients to suit their specific needs and location, whether that be creating public spaces for cities or a unique outdoor dining experience for the hospitality industry. About Box PArklets Design
Box Parklets allow parking lanes, excess sidewalk space, and plazas to be turned into destinations that offer the communities they occupy a safe and comfortable space for friends, neighbours, and patrons of nearby businesses to use.
Box Parklets are designed and built in Vancouver, BC. Made using up-cycled shipping containers and designed as movable, relocatable parklet structures which can be used in all seasons and weather. Box Parklets are designed for the hospitality industry and are perfect solutions for outdoor dining spaces. We also work with municipal partners to animate streets with our parklets as shared seating amenities creating open public spaces.
With the restrictions put in place nationwide over the last year in response to COVID-19, space and social distancing have become a priority for people and business owners. Box Parklets are an excellent way for cafes, bars, and restaurants to expand their capacity and optimize their service. Cities can add to, and invigorate their public space to keep everyone safe with a fast, affordable, and reliable product.
